MIBLAB

Sutur XR

This project focuses on designing and immersive training experience to help medical students better understand the process of stitching during sutures, including essential hand-object manipulation aspects. As part of the project, we collaborated with two experienced surgeons and professors of medicine,  Andrés Maldonado Morillo and Lara Cristóbal Velasco. As part of this project, we organized a series of embodied co-design sessions, including a form of hybrid bodystorming, featuring a bodystorming basket with physical and virtual assets. Insights from these embodied design sessions have been published in a paper at TEI’24, wherein we articulate key steps of suturing, uncover essential design requirements and features for a future immersive design, and present an interesting design concept proposal that can be inspiring for future works in the domain.
